JG 2 Fw 190 III./ JG 2
Uffz. Herbert Gumprecht of 8./ JG 2 with lady friend on his Fw 190 A-3 'schwarze 7' in France, possibly in early 1943. He downed his first four-engine bomber on 17 November 1942 claiming an 8th AF B-24, one of a formation of 35 sent to bomb St. Nazaire for his third Abschuss. On 17 April 1943 he claimed two Spitfire Mk IXs from No 341 Sqn 'Alsace' shot down over Toucaville (east of Le Havre). He was KIA on 16 August 1943 in air combat over Normandy.
