Nahaufklärungsstaffel 1.(H)/11 photo album campaign in Poland and the West - Henschel Hs 126, Fw 189

Super album of some 670 photos currently at 1,600 euros (52 bids) and two days left to go, see link below;

Nahaufklärungsstaffel 1.(H)/11 was established on 1. November 1938 in Großenhain and underwent its baptism of fire in the Polish campaign (Polen Feldzug) under Staffelkapitän, Hptm. Kurt Friese (see signature above). In the winter of 1939/40 the Staffel moved to the Eitel region and flew in support of  Rommel's 7. Pz. The campaign in the West took 1.(H)Pz/11 under their new Staffelkapitän, Hptm. Richard Heuser all the way down to Bordeaux. With 'Sealion' then cancelled the unit moved to winter quarters at Feldflugplatz Moiselles, 16 km NNW of Paris. Under Staffelführer Oblt. Karl Euler the Staffel was reorganised with two new Staffeln created. On 10 January 1941 the new Staffelkapitäne Oblt. Jobst Zibell   und Oblt. Ludwig v. Wittich took command with the Staffel becoming from 12 January 1941 :
1.(H)Pz/11 Oblt. Zibell in Moiselles
5.(H)Pz/11 Oblt. v. Wittich in Dijon
6.(H)Pz/11 Oblt. Fleischmann in Dijon

The emblem of 5. Staffel was introduced by v. Wittich in February 1941 - der rote Teufelskopf or red devil's head - although adapted with a monocle as a representation of the unit's recce mission. The unit flew the Hs 126 in the East and converted to the Fw 189 during February 1942 at Stalino and on 29 March 1943 flew its 1000th sortie..(info via www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de)

Stukageschwader in action over Poland, Bf 109 K-4 at Deutsche Brod - Daily Ebay Luftwaffe photo

Stuka of the Staffelkapitaen hooked up to a starter cart

Two rare views of the end at Deutsche Brod offered for sale by Ebay seller 'aerwina 4'

At least seven Hs 129 B-2 or B-3 can be seen dispersed, the nearest being "Weisse 11". The unit markings seem consistent with 13.(Pz.)/SG 9.

Bottom; Bf 109 K-4 W.Nr. probably in the 332 000 335 241 block range given the low visibility camouflage demarcation line, typical of later Mtt-Flössenburg or other Mtt operated Waldwerke in 1945. Given the black tulip decorating it's nose, the unit is almost certainly II./JG 52 - pictures taken at Deutsch Brod (today Havlickuv Brod) some time during April 1945. During the last two weeks of the war both airfields housed Hs 129s of SG 9 as well as the Bf 109s of JG 52

Me 110 ZG 52 & Me 109 Jagdgruppe 101

A couple of nice Ebay finds today. First up, an Emil of Jagdgruppe 101, one of the lesser known Jagdwaffe units to operate over Poland in September and October 1939. For operational purposes it was probably attached to a larger formation, but administratively it remained an autonomous Gruppe with its own executive officers. The unit badge was a cartoon running dog. Note also the script 'der alte' under the cockpit. The Gruppe spent the winter of 39/40 in northern Germany before its pilots were posted to other units, many being incorporated into ZG 1. Among the pilots to have flown with JGr. 101 was Staffelkapitän Oblt. Dietrich Robitzsch. This may even be him in the photo. With the dissolution of JGr. 101 he was posted to 6. Staffel of Tr.Gr. 186, the fighter element formed to operate from the carrier Graf Zeppelin. Robitzsch was taken captive on the first day of the Westfeldzug, force-landing his Emil in Holland after clashing with Fokker D-XXI fighters

Nice shot of an Me 110 C/D with the Drachenwappen of ZG 52 on the forward fuselage

Unidentified Emil, locations on the rear of the pics mention La Rochelle and Trébeurden, Brittany during the summer of 1942. A machine of one of the Ergänzungsstaffeln perhaps?
